Headquarters Joint Forces New Zealand is to prepare, deploy, command and support assigned forces, in order to contribute to the security of New Zealand and her interests. As such, the Headquarters staff carries out a wide range of activities including; planning & support for operations and training activities, planning and assistance to government agencies, preparing budgets, developing relationships inside and outside the headquarters, and developing short and long-term branch plans.
 
Joint Personnel Branch is responsible for the management and control of personnel support for current and future operations, exercises and other activities on behalf of Commander Joint Forces New Zealand. 
 
This position is responsible for the development of personnel plans for assigned authorised joint and combined exercises, military assistance to civil authorities, and other directed activities. The position is also responsible for the provision of personnel policy advice, administration and support to these activities and for the creation, administration and management of the associated Information Management related requirements.
 
The position is responsible as the Branch SME for the coaching and mentoring of other Branch staff in the use of technology based tools including; the Microsoft Office suite of applications, SAP HCM and IMX information management. The position acts as the Branch Co-ordinator preparing and maintaining Branch rosters and returns.
 
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal with all levels of the organisation.
  • Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, with a demonstrated ability in MS Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Human Resources Management Information Systems (HRMIS), and database systems.
  • Proven analytical skills and the ability to develop new areas of research in response to shifting priorities.
  • Proven experience in establishing and managing systems and processes to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Sound knowledge of HR policy and administration.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

You must be able to travel when required and have a full drivers licence. There may be a requirement for rostered duties during periods of national emergencies or significant operational events.

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
