Job Description

  • Great fixed term opportunity
  • Enhance your problem solving skills in a complex environment

  • Set and maintain a high standard of quality assurance

Estate and infrastructure are critical enablers for the delivery of NZDF military capabilities; don't miss out on this opportunity!

Ideally you will have a Tertiary level qualification (Degree level) or equivalent professional level qualification in a relevant business area or relevant business experience.

This is a fixed term position until June 2019.

The NZDF Estate and its infrastructure are critical enablers for the delivery of NZDF military capabilities and the support it provides to other government agencies and the community. The current estate is a complex network of approximately 81,000 hectares and 5000 buildings spread across nine camps and bases, two large land training areas and various regional locations. The purpose of the Defence Estate and Infrastructure organisation is to develop, maintain and manage land and infrastructure assets to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes.

NZDF is a dynamic organisation and this is a very exciting time to join the Defence Estate and Infrastructure unit as they work towards supporting the delivery of Strategy 2025 which sets out the vision of an Integrated Defence Force.

Based in either Wellington/Trentham or Auckland and reporting through to the Team Leader Planning (Estate Delivery) you will be responsible for developing programmes and plans for infrastructure and property management across the NZDF estate and assisting with the development of associated long term planning initiatives. The role works with single Services and NZDF HQ to identify estate changes needed to meet their military capability requirements. The role will undertake systematic analysis of these current needs and develop specific planning programmes that deliver efficient and effective redevelopment outcomes for the Defence Estate.

We are seeking a person who understands public sector planning processes and can bring demonstrable skills in corporate planning. You will already have significant experience in programme and project management and leading complex infrastructure planning.

You will be at the level within your career that you have had independent responsibility for and prior experience of;

  • Infrastructure - urban, property or regional planning
  • Engineering - civil, geotechnical or environmental
