Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to fill this critical role.

The Safety and Wellbeing function is centralised within the People and Capability Group and supported by Operational Safety Advisors working in the business.

As part of our health and safety support team, you will be responsible for providing support in the delivery of organisational wide health, safety and wellbeing objectives. This involves monitoring risk and co-ordinating actions, developing and delivering initiatives, contributing to the ongoing improvement of our safety and wellbeing system, coaching and advising managers, and working with others to promote a culture of safety and wellbeing.

You'll have plenty of opportunity to shape the way we do things as we continuously evolve to strengthen our systems and make safety and wellbeing integral to what we do. We'll be looking to you to share your knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to enable and empower our leaders to manage risk and keep our people well.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have good foundation knowledge as a Safety & Wellbeing Advisor.   It is envisioned that you'll have a friendly, open operating style, a passion for safety and wellbeing, and a desire to find workable solutions. You'll be action orientated, with a desire to undertake greater accountabilities as your capabilities increase.

This role will give you the opportunity to make improvements to our system and influence outcomes. You'll be joining us at an exciting time, as we take our first steps on a long-term journey of building a culture of wellbeing.

This role will require a "can do" attitude, a passion for safety and wellbeing, a desire to find workable solutions and be action orientated.

For any further information about these roles please contact Tony Bellamy (Acting Manager, Safety & Wellbeing) on 0221 404 266. Applicants are required to be Permanent Residents or Citizens of New Zealand and the successful applicant will be required to pass a drug test.

Please visit our website http://www.customs.govt.nz to apply online submitting a CV and cover letter that demonstrates your ability to meet the competencies required for the role as outlined in the position description.

Applications close at 5pm Friday 20th October 2017.
