Senior Advisor – Social Sector Commissioning Hub
- 40 hours per week
- Fixed Term Contract /secondment to 30th June 2024
- National Office, Wellington
This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working collaboratively across the non-government and government sectors.
The Social Sector Commissioning Hub role is implementing the Social Sector Commissioning Action Plan 2022-2028; a cross-government initiative, jointly led by MSD and Oranga Tamariki. Its focus is to develop and implement improvements to how social services are commissioned across government agencies. Te āhua o te tūranga / About the role
As a Senior Advisor, you will provide high-quality analysis, support and advice on operationalising the Social Sector Commissioning work programme.
We will consider applicants from a range of backgrounds, including
- Operational service design or delivery
- Change management approaches
- Contract management, procurement processes or funding
To be successful in this role, the Senior Advisor will work closely with the Principal Advisors and Manager, Social Sector Commissioning Hub, providing best practice advice, guidance and support to enable delivery of the work programme.

- Strong skills in critical thinking, understanding user needs, and evidence-based analysis
- Experience in preparing briefings, memos and reports to senior officials and Ministers
- Ability to create practical recommendations and solutions with reasoning that stacks up
- Experience preparing tools and guides for a range of audiences
- Understanding of the machinery of government
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
Salary range: $99,546.00 - $120,778.00
