Job Description

The State Services Commission (SSC) leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders. 

The System and Agency Performance Group (SAPG) provides critical support to the State Services Commission so that it can lead and influence improvements across the State sector. We provide analysis and advice on agency and system performance.  We lead the management of Public Service Chief Executive recruitment, remuneration, performance, development and succession, the Commission's engagement with Crown entities at a strategic level and about Crown entity chief executive remuneration. We also manage Chief Executive disclosures on remuneration and expenses; and the Cabinet Fees Framework.    

We have two vacancies for Advisors in SAPG, aligned to the following portfolios: 

  • 1 X Advisor or Senior Advisor: Performance, Analysis and Advice 
  • 1 X Senior Advisor: Crown Entity Engagement, Fees and Disclosures. 

The attached Position Description outlines the key accountabilities and expectations for each of these roles.  

These are full-time roles however, we are open to discussing what flexible working arrangements might work for both you and us.

  • have the ability to lead work 
  • be an agile professional who can juggle multiple tasks and priorities with good judgement 
  • be keen to progress our current ways of working and thinking 
  • have strong written and oral communication and relationship management skills, and 
  • have discretion and tact to handle confidential information
  • a background in human resources would be an advantage.

The Advisor position usually pays between $67,840 to $89,040 depending on skills and experience. The Senior Advisor position usually pays between $92,560 to $121,485 depending on skills and experience.
