The State Services Commission (SSC) leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Senior HR Advisor works closely with the business to drive activities that improve business outcomes at the same time as being an active member of the People Team to ensure we deliver on our promises.

You will be trusted advisor who can provide support across a broad range of HR matters.  You will also have experience in mentoring and developing other People Team members. 

With an exciting agenda of HR projects through 2020, you will have an opportunity to take a leadership role in areas that you're passionate about – whether that be in diversity and inclusion, capability and culture building, or wellbeing frameworks.  

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills, qualities and experience: 

  • Experienced human resources professional, preferably with a strong generalist or organisational development background 
  • Experience working in partnership with other leaders to build strong and successful organisations 
  • Be a strategic thinker and analyst with experience leading and delivering a programme of work 
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Sound knowledge of current HR principles and best practice in at least three of the following:  organisational development, employment relations, change management, professional learning and development, recruitment and selection.

This position usually pays between $92,560 - $121,485 depending on skills and experience.
