Working with us is about being part of a small agile team, with a big ambition.  We need people who are talented in many ways.  From influencers who can inspire others through to team members who are focused on helping us to deliver our services at SSC.

The Strategy and Policy group is tasked with designing and driving how government agencies work together to improve wellbeing. We achieve this through:

  • Development of excellent public policy, strategy, research and information management skills,
  • Our expertise and thought leadership about machinery of government and public management,
  • Development of innovative, data and evidence driven approaches that have potential to enhance the future performance of public services, and
  • Supporting agencies and chief executives to organise around shared problems

The common purpose for all of us at SSC is working towards making a difference to New Zealanders. We offer exciting career opportunities to gain breadth of expertise through work that focuses across all of the activity of government.

The experience, knowledge and skills we are looking for are:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience (at least 2-3 years for Analyst and 5+ years for a Senior),
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to present complex matters simply,
  • Experience of the government environment and ability to navigate the complex policy issues to provide the best advice and solutions for Ministers, and
  • Strong influencing skills, able to build momentum and support for new ideas and ways of working.
