We have a permanent full time vacancy for a Content Editor in our busy content team managing a range of products including Govt.nz, Digital.govt.nz and data.govt.nz

Government Information Services (GIS) sits within the Department's Service and System Transformation Branch.

GIS delivers trusted government information, open data and digital engagement to improve the public's digital experience with government.  We're working to make digital government information easier to find, understand and use. We do this by both providing best practice digital products like Govt.nz and data.govt.nz, and by working with government agencies and industry to help them raise the quality and standards of government's digital delivery. 

We need someone with skills in taking complex government information and turning it into plain language to meet user needs. You'll work with the Content Designers to maintain and develop high quality content for our portfolio of products.

To be successful in this role you'll need experience in:

  • editing content using content management systems (CMS), preferably SilverStripe
  • understanding complex language and turning it into plain English
  • working with HTML
  • managing effective engagement with agencies and other stakeholders
  • using feedback and user-needs to guide your work
  • working in an Agile framework
  • working in a high pressure environment
  • working autonomously, with the ability to self-manage
  • using photo editing tools, such as Photoshop.

You'll also need to:

  • have highly developed relationship management skills
  • have knowledge of web content writing best practice and web standards
  • be able to work collaboratively and mentor other team members.
