Job Description

What you will do

These roles will be supporting GNZ's mission by providing Geospatial Intelligence products and expertise. The roles have two key components; Geospatial development and database management.  You will be providing support to wider GEOINT development and R&D projects. You will also be responsible for GNZ's current and future GEOINT databases, with regards to technical military and industry standards in order to ensure GNZ's spatial data is made available to NZDF, NZ Government and our international partners.

What we need

We are seeking three developers with an enthusiasm for Geospatial technologies where you will have at least 1 year practical experience in development for the Developer (I) role or at least 3 years experience for the Developer (II) and Developer (Data) roles. You will bring a skillset which includes geospatial solutions development, implementing and managing databases, cloud based platforms and project management. 

The key technical skills needed are:

*       Development experience in languages such as Python, .Net, JavaScript, SQL and relevant APIs
*       Proficiency in the management of Relational Database Management Systems and in the design and implementation of GEOINT schemas
*       An understanding of proprietary and open source database technologies - SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL
*       Understanding of OGC standards and the software that implements them. With special regards to data structure and web mapping services
*       Understanding of the diverse range of GEOINT and geospatial data and associated issues: quality, accuracy, fitness for purpose, projections, sources etc
*       Knowledge of cloud based technologies
*       Assist in developing GNZ's data analytics capabilities

GEOINT New Zealand's role is to provide imagery and geospatial intelligence to NZDF, supporting policy, planning, operations and training in order to meet NZDF outputs.

GNZ is also the national and international lead for Geospatial Intelligence in New Zealand providing imagery and geospatial intelligence to government departments and other customers.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance
*       most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last ten years, OR
*       is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last ten years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
