Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role
Reporting into the Community Risk Manager, the Senior Advisor Risk Reduction is accountable for providing risk reduction advice and expertise across the community. It will also undertake risk reduction activities and functions throughout a wider district. The role of Senior Advisor Risk Reduction will include the coaching and mentoring of team members and supporting the Community Risk Manager to plan and deliver the districts risk reduction programme of work.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Providing risk reduction and compliance advice and support to the community, partners and local regulatory authorities to build understanding and awareness.
- Undertaking the delivery of a full range of risk reduction, compliance and enforcement activities and functions.
- Work closely with sector partners in the identification, planning and delivery of aligned activities within the district.
- Undertaking fire control functions such as assisting with the creation of fire maintenance plans, fire hazard assessments and advice, fire permit activity and providing advice internally to key stakeholders, partners and the community.

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience working collaboratively with partners and key stakeholders to deliver outcomes. You be comfortable working with and communicating complex and technical information to a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
Your experience coaching and mentoring others will prove valuable in this role, along with your understanding of the principles of risk management. Additionally, you will be a strategic thinker with the ability to negotiate, problem solve and resolve complex situations.
