Be part of a small team dedicated to making a difference. Play a lead role providing secretariat and governance support to Local Advisory Committees.

Mō tēnei tūranga - about the role

Work with Local Advisory Committees (LACs) across 16 regions across Aotearoa, each with unique needs. As a senior advisor supporting the LACs you will be the key liaison between the LACs and Fire and Emergency. Developing and managing complex relationships and the flow of information and networking across multiple stakeholders, you'll be responsible for advising and providing end to end support to LACs, as well as providing governance and secretariat support.

Working alongside the Chairs and Deputy Chairs you'll be instrumental in assisting LACs to meet their strategic goals and legislative mandate requirements. You'll support LACs to develop and implement an annual work programme, engage effectively across a range of communities and key stakeholders, and provide strategic advice and reporting to the FENZ Board.  There may be a requirement for travel upon occasion.

This is a fixed term position from ASAP – 26 February 2027.

You will be an experienced Senior Advisor or an Advisor ready to step up. You may have experience providing secretariat support to a statutory committee or board. Our ideal candidate will thrive in a diverse environment and will be comfortable as part of an organisation with a national structure.

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will be:

• Politically savvy and able to navigate governance structures and boards in a complex organisation
• Experienced in providing sound monitoring, reporting and evaluation across a programme of work and developing initiatives to improve effectiveness
• An excellent communicator and presenter, skilled in facilitating stakeholder relationships.
• Experienced in developing papers and reports to an executive level
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of tikanga and Te Ao Māori and experience in applying it in your work.
