Principal Analyst - Security and Resilience (full-time, fixed term position until the end of June 2027)
Salary range: $151,040 - $187,961
We're looking for an experienced Principal Analyst to join our skilled, resolute team whose work is focussed on better understanding and building social cohesion and community resilience on matters of national security.
This position will lead a range of project work to develop policies, guidance and tools and is responsible for delivering high quality briefings and other Ministerial advice and reporting.
As Principal Analyst:
- your extensive experience and skills will allow you to quickly integrate into and boost our high-performing project team
- you will be responsible for driving key project work and jump in to support other areas of the work programme when required
- you will have a proven track record of producing high quality written work such as Ministerial Briefings and responses to Ministerial requirements
- your exceptional analytical, research and writing skills will allow you to develop advice and insights to inform leadership decisions
- working closely with the Director, Security and Resilience, your experience and positive disposition will allow you to help drive and deliver our ambitious work programme
- you will have the know-how and experience to work closely with central government agencies and diverse communities
- you will need to be able to get and maintain a Top Secret Security Classification
- Top Secret - Eligibility requirements: To be eligible for this position, you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years. We will be looking to you to have:
- Extensive experience in the New Zealand public sector or similar overseas context, as a Principal Analyst.
- Proven ability to deliver projects or outputs to a high quality and on time.
- Experience with all aspects of the Machinery of Government, including writing high quality Briefings, Ministerial responses, and reports.
- Excellent analytical, research and writing skills.
- Experience in working with a range of diverse key stakeholders.
- An in-depth knowledge of the machinery of government, government direction and policy priorities.
- Ability work collaboratively with a team under pressure to meet quality standards and deadlines.
Ideally you will have:
- Demonstrated experience working constructively at the interface between community and government.
- Experience advising and forming constructive working relationships with Ministers and central government agencies.
