Job Description

The New Zealand Defence Force is a dynamic organisation with many parts to its structure; however at its core are our people.

What you will do

You will be responsible for providing leadership to the region's HRA team to ensure the delivery of high quality, timely and fit for purpose HR advice.  This includes coaching and developing the team to be confident in providing advice (both military and civilian) to enable commanders and managers to lead their people effectively.

You will also be accountable for developing and leading the implementation of HR service delivery strategies within the Region, and will support the Manager HRAS in providing strategic contributions to the development of NZDF HRM, annual plans, policies and HR project working groups.

You will need to be an established practitioner who isn't afraid to challenge the status quo and push the boundaries, with excellent service delivery always front of mind. You will be joining a creative, driven and innovative team who see the greater good in the work they do.

It would be an advantage if you have worked within a large government agency.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
