Job Description

The New Zealand Defence Force is a dynamic organisation with many parts to its structure; however at its core are our people.

What you will do

You will be responsible for providing leadership to the region's HRA team to ensure the delivery of high quality, timely and fit for purpose HR advice.  This includes coaching and developing the team to be confident in providing advice (both military and civilian) to enable commanders and managers to lead their people effectively.

You will also be accountable for developing and leading the implementation of HR service delivery strategies within the Region, and will support the Manager HRAS in providing strategic contributions to the development of NZDF HRM, annual plans, policies and HR project working groups.

What we need

NZDF is a complex and dynamic environment and as HR practitioners we work with a strong service delivery focus.  We need a dynamic relationship builder with confident interpersonal skills who has a proven ability in quickly establishing rapport while providing best practice HR solutions. You will need to be an established practitioner who isn't afraid to challenge the status quo and push the boundaries, with excellent service delivery always front of mind. You will be joining a creative, driven and innovative team who see the greater good in the work they do.

It would be an advantage if you have worked within a large government agency.

Who we are

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.

Why Us

This is a great opportunity to build on your existing experience. We offer the opportunity to work in a unique environment with diversity of learning.  This role will stretch you and develop you as a practitioner. We have a strong and evolving reputation within NZDF which you will contribute to and we have some exciting HR projects planned.

NZDF offers its civilian staff a range of benefits:
