What you will do

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team to help provide comprehensive, safe, high quality health services to our patients. Our focus is on delivering best practice health care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Medics and Doctors along with other committed health professionals. This is a pivotal role in the provision of health promotion and education, assessment and triage of patients that present to our Health Centre.

As a 24/7 health care provider this position will encompass rotating rostered shifts in our extended care and emergency response facility along with weekday shifts working in our primary health care area.

What we need

Together with your post-graduate experience and extensive exposure to clinical, triage and emergency care work, you will have the proven ability to maintain integrity and absolute medical confidentiality. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will shine through, as will your time management, team focus and strong self-motivation. 

Our ideal candidate must be confident practicing autonomously within scope of practice, recognising limitations and referring on as appropriate. You will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, be willing to take direction from others, and at times work under supervision when necessary. You will possess the ability to relate to a wide range of people, and as a Nurse be confident with providing healthcare advice and education to individuals and groups.

The Defence Health Centre in Waiouru provides occupational and primary health, 24/7 urgent and extended care, along with emergency response to military personnel exercising, coursing, working and living within the Waiouru Military Training Facility

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
