Job Description

What you will do

You will be responsible primarily for surface finishing of aircraft and aeronautical components including removal and application of aeronautical coatings and aircraft markings in accordance with RNZAF Engineering standards & instructions.
What we need  
We are seeking someone with sound understanding of aeronautical surface finishing, best trade practices and technical airworthiness. Committed to safe work practices, you will have an excellent working understanding of health and safety.
You will have proven ability to work with minimal supervision. You will have excellent communication skills as you deal with both Military and Civilian staff at the Base. You will be proficient in the Office suite of applications and not be afraid of computers.
Who we are  
The Maintenance Support Squadron at RNZAF Base Ohakea is part of the Air Force Maintenance Wing and is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of airworthiness products and services to RNZAF Operational Units. To achieve that the Squadron is divided into specialist work units namely an Armament Flight, Component Maintenance Flight, Aeronautical Engineering support Flight, Technical Support Ground Support Equipment, Ground Support Equipment Maintenance Flight and Safety and Surface Flight along with Headquarters command element.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Low level Security Clearance
  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application
