Job Description

What you will do
 
Our newly established Defence Cyber Security Centre (DCSC) defends and protects the Defence Information Environment against cyber security threats.
 
As the Cyber Threat Analysis Manager you will manage the Cyber Threat Analysis function within the DCSC, and ultimately be responsible for accessing, analysing and communicate cyber security threats to the NZDF.
 
In this role you will provide development and leadership to a team responsible for providing near real time analytical support for the security monitoring of the Defence Information Environment and develop comprehensive threat reports to assist decision making.   
 
You will also be responsible for the provision of SME input to the development and implementation of a comprehensive and integrated set of policies, plans and standards to access, analyse and communicate cyber threat information in time critical environments.
 
What we need
 
We are keen to hear from you if you are an agile and intuitive Intelligence professional with a passion for leadership and the drive to set up a new function in this emerging field for NZDF.
 
To be considered you will need:

•             Proven ability to lead the operation of complex systems and implementation of processes.
•             Proven stakeholder and relationship management skills to enable effective liaison with allied militaries, cyber intelligence entities and other NZ government agencies
•             In depth knowledge of the Intelligence Cycle.
•             Exceptional analytical and investigation skills and the ability to translate data/information, interpret, synthesise and convey meaning and provide insights.
•             A thorough understanding of cyber risks, the current threat landscape, and common attacks used to compromise systems.
•             Knowledge of the NZ Government requirements for security including the NZISM, Protective Security Requirements, and GCIO requirements.
 
Additionally, the following qualifications would beneficial:

•             Relevant CompTIA qualifications
•             Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) qualification
 
Please note: 
You must be able and willing to travel within New Zealand and overseas if required.
This position is required to be on call and may involve out of hours work.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
