Job Description

What you will do
 
The National Service Delivery and Operations Manager (NSDOM) executes the vision for the operation of DSSG, ensuring that Service Delivery meets customer and organisation needs. Continually engaged in leading and inspiring their team in developing and documenting best practices in the performance of all duties and responsibilities in line with the Directors Philosophy of People Oriented, Professionalism, Team Management and Accountability and to ensure the Service Delivery Centres deliver quality orientated service to the personnel of the NZDF.
 
The NSDOM‘s success is measured by the organisation's ability to provide high quality services, dedicated and motivated staff, while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA), improving service performance, increased use of resources and adaptation of new proven technologies to increase efficiency, and achievement of metrics. The leader in this role actively contributes to the overall NZDF operational targets.
 
You'll be responsible for facilitating and driving the implementation of new and agreed shared services and the coordination of business improvements for the Defence Shared Service Group across NZDF camps/bases/Defence House and satellite locations, as well as leading the development of all cross functional, regional and national business and service delivery initiatives in order to deliver one way of doing business.

The role will require someone with excellent people skills, an excellent customer focussed ethos, and is a skilled people leader who can share their considerable industry experience and best practice ideas to help drive towards leading quality orientated customer service.  As a strong leader you will drive high standards and performance by setting a clear direction, empowering and engaging people.
 
You will bring some key skills from prior cross functional management, leadership and organisational support services. This prior experience and your ability to relate to staff, managers and the wider organisation will see you develop and implement superior customer solutions initiatives.  You'll be a keen negotiator with excellent communication and relationship building skills.
 
Your ability to implement change at a leadership level and ensuring support services reflect the strategic direction and priorities of the organisation are crucial to your success in this role, as is your understanding of the development and execution of business annual plans.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
