  • Encouraging and monitoring continuous feedback between stakeholders and CIS Branch;
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers across NZDF.

What we need

Our ideal candidate will have strong writing, influencing, negotiation and communication skills and experience in establishing effective relationships with people across a wide range of backgrounds and seniority, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to simplify  complex information and  present it in a way that is easily understood;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts to  coherently communicate information using plain English.

Who we are

The NZDF uses a range of satellite and terrestrial systems to support more than 14,000 personnel, many of whom are operating in geographically remote or hostile environments. The Communication Information Services branch purpose is to provide specialist ICT support to core mission and intelligence, as well as supporting essential corporate functions such as Logistics, Human Resources and Finance.  Most importantly, we support our colleagues in the Navy, Army, Airforce and Joint Forces who rely on us to enable the information services needed on military platforms e.g. bases, ships, vehicles or aircraft. Our operating environment includes several separate information domains, and we also contribute to the protection of New Zealanders from cyber threats.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.

Why Us

This is an exciting time to join the CIS Branch as we transition into a new, modern way of working. NZDF will be an integrated defence force by 2025 and everything the Defence Force delivers – from frontline military operations through to corporate support relies on technology and the CIS Branch is critical to this success.

By joining our team you are making a great career decision.  A recent staff satisfaction survey highlighted why:

  • Be part of an effective team with freedom and flexibility to do my job;
  • Able to maintain a balance between my personal and working life;
  • Inspired to go the extra mile to help NZDF succeed.

Check out the great benefits for you and your family when you join NZDF!
