About the role

As an Advisor in the Leadership Development Centre (LDC), you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality support for talent management and leader development across the public service. You will provide reliable coordination, administration, and customer‑focused delivery across our talent engagements and leader assessments, helping ensure a consistent, seamless experience for public service leaders, agencies, and partners.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to system‑wide leadership development, work with a wide range of senior stakeholders, and help strengthen the leadership pipeline for Aotearoa New Zealand.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings energy, accuracy, and strong coordination skills to a fast‑paced, service‑focused environment. You will be great at keeping track of detail, managing workflows, and supporting others to deliver high‑quality experiences for leaders. You will also be confident engaging with a range of people and upholding the values and principles of the public service.

You will be:

  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Customer‑focused with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail‑oriented, with sound record‑keeping and data‑handling capability
  • A team player who builds trust and works collaboratively across boundaries
  • Keen to develop your knowledge of the public service and leadership development
  • Committed to learning, inclusion, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating talent management activities, tracking actions, and maintaining accurate records and reporting
  • Supporting the end‑to‑end delivery of leader assessments (360° and 180°), including inbox management, system updates, reminders, and quality assurance of reports
  • Providing scheduling and logistical support for talent engagements and leader development sessions
  • Ensuring a consistent, timely, and high‑quality customer experience
  • Supporting continuous improvement across LDC processes, systems, and data

This role provides a unique insight into system‑wide leadership development and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the capability of the public service.

About Us

Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders. This position sits within the Leadership Development Centre (LDC), which is part of the Commission's Workforce Group. The LDC is the system's primary vehicle for leadership development, supporting chief executives, agencies, and leaders to grow the capability needed for effective public service leadership now and into the future.

Salary

The full salary range for the band is $80,495 to $106,758 . We typically look to appoint to role between $80,495 to $98,718, depending on skills and experience.
