About the role

We are seeking a highly organised Executive Assistant to join our Public Sector Performance group.

This is a key support role working in a fast‑paced environment alongside a group of senior leaders. You will provide proactive, high‑quality executive and administrative support, helping ensure the smooth running of complex programmes of work and enabling leaders to focus on delivering results for New Zealanders.

The role requires sound judgement, discretion and initiative, as well as strong time management and attention to detail. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, adapting to changing demands, and working confidently with people at all levels across the organisation and the wider public sector.

You will join a collaborative, committed team undertaking work that sits at the centre of public sector performance and leadership.

About you

You will bring:

  • Agility and flexibility to work in  a fast paced environment and adjust on the go
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines with accuracy
  • Strong customer focus and organisational, communication and relationship‑management skills
  • High attention to detail, professionalism and discretion
  • Initiative and confidence using (and improving on) business systems and digital tools
  • Providing proactive executive support, including diary management, meeting coordination and logistical support for multiple senior leaders
  • Preparing, coordinating and managing papers, correspondence and information flows to ensure leaders are well briefed and supported
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting efficient business processes, systems and ways of working across the group
  • Exercising judgement, discretion and initiative when handling sensitive information and responding to issues as they arise
  • Working closely with other Executive Assistants to ensure seamless support across the wider group

About Us

Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.

This role sits in the Public Sector Performance group, which works with the Treasury and DPMC to lift performance across the public sector. We support senior leaders with advice and insights and lead the Commission's statutory responsibilities for chief executive appointments, performance and development. We also provide advice on Crown entity matters.

Salary

The full salary range for the band is $64,997 to $84,868. We typically look to appoint to role between $64,997 to $77,914, depending on skills and experience.
