Principal Policy Analyst 

Strategy, Policy and Integrity | Policy, General Public Administration

Salary: $132,000 to $184,203 

 

This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of a dynamic policy team focussed on identifying innovations to improve New Zealand's public administration system, and advising on the design of the legislative framework for the public sector.

The Principal Analyst role is an opportunity to work alongside senior public service leaders to resolve emerging issues and to influence change at a system level. This will include an ability to contribute to strategic thinking on public administration and integrity matters and present complex issues to variety of different audiences at pace.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has sophisticated inter-personal and relationship building skills and a track-record of working well and delivering as part of a team.
  • Is a critical, deep thinker.
  • Has excellent written and oral communication skills and who is confident communicating with a range of stakeholders. 

A legal, public management or policy background would be an advantage. Experience in leading Cabinet policy and/or legislative processes is desirable.

The position sits within the Strategy, Policy and Integrity group, which works to ensure that the public sector is best placed to deliver for New Zealanders. We do this by advising on the design and operation of the system of government agencies; promoting integrity, transparency and accountability; and ensuring that the Commission has the best evidence to inform decision making, policy and performance measurement.

Salary

The full salary range for the band is $132,000 to $184,203. We typically look to appoint to role between $132,000 to $161,830, depending on skills and experience.
