Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Senior Analyst
Leadership Development Centre
Public Service Commission Te Kawa Mataaho
Wellington
Fixed term to June 2028
Salary range: $108,003 to $144,460

About the role

As a Senior Analyst in the Leadership Development Centre (LDC), you will provide high-quality analysis, evidence and advice to support system-wide leadership development across the public service. This fixed-term role will help build a clearer, evidence-based understanding of learning and development investment, needs, opportunities and gaps, including within LDC. You will use existing and new data to inform advice on sustainable, effective and efficient learning and development over the longer term, including options for service design, funding settings, evaluation, performance measures and transition to enduring delivery.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings strong analytical judgement, intellectual curiosity and the ability to turn complex information into clear, practical advice for senior leaders. You will be comfortable working with qualitative and quantitative information, engaging with stakeholders, testing assumptions and presenting complex matters simply.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and contribute to well-constructed, fit-for-purpose, evidence-based analysis and advice.
  • Undertake analysis of learning and development across the public service, including what the system already has, what it needs, and where there are gaps and opportunities.
  • Support analysis of future operating, funding and cost recovery options that are sustainable, practical and aligned to system needs.
  • Develop analytical products that support project planning, milestone decisions, business planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role you will bring senior-level experience in analysis, evaluation, performance, strategy, data or system design, ideally in the public sector. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role will give you a unique insight into public service leadership development and the system-level work that supports stronger leadership across government.
