What you will do
We have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Domain Architect to join our Enterprise Products and Systems (EPS) Portfolio. The EPS Portfolio delivers the ICT Strategy and Vision set by Architecture, Policy and Design through products spanning ICT infrastructure, platforms, end user compute and deployed capabilities across all classification domains.
As one of four Domain Architects within this newly created EPS team you will define the set of products and architectural building blocks (ABBs) for the Infrastructure domain. The End User Compute Tower, in which you will sit, delivers key end user assets (physical and digital) and products, across all information domains that are the foundation of the Defence Information Environment (DIE). The products included in this tower are Workstations & Devices, Enterprise Applications, Mobility, Unified Communications, Application Stores, Portable Storage and Multifunction Devices. You will also work closely to advise the End User Compute Product Manager/ Owner (and other stakeholders) on the limitations, and impacts on the End User Compute tower relating to other domains.
What we need
We are keen to hear from you if you are an experienced Domain Architect with demonstrable experience in designing, implementing and managing solutions and services in some of the End User Compute tower's products or related areas.
In particular you'll have:

•       A thorough understanding of and demonstrable experience in the End User Compute domain including roadmap and solution architecture;
•       Have experience with deploying and managing Microsoft solutions including O365 and Unified Communication;
•       Demonstrable Virtual Desktop experience;
•       Knowledge and understanding of User device management and deployment;
•       Experience using architecture frameworks and methods such as TOGAF;
•       A good understanding of the available products, solutions and services within your domain;
•       Previous knowledge of Product Management or demonstrated leadership in a similar role;
•       In-depth understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and/or product lifecycle;
•       Supportive of continual improvement activities, with a learning mind-set and the ability to adapt ways of working.
You possess not only technical knowledge but also a softer skillset to listen, empathise, explain, advise, influence and negotiate, all whilst navigating complex project environments with competing stakeholder expectations. Experience working within an agile environment is highly desirable – or at least an understanding of agile methodologies.

We expect to appoint around the midpoint of the salary band for this role which is $163,789 inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution. This may be negotiable depending on experience.
Location: This role will initially be based in Petone however we are currently working through our longer-term office location requirements in the broader Wellington area. This means that in future you may need to be able to work in one of our other CIS offices across the Wellington and Hutt Valley region. Also, the hiring manager is open to having a virtually located team for the right person.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 15 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 15 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
