The Ministry for Ethnic Communities is seeking an Insights Analyst to join our Strategic Engagement and Stakeholder Insights (SESI) business unit. Working within the Engagement Specialist team and reporting to the Director, National Operations, this role plays a pivotal part in transforming community intelligence and stakeholder data into actionable insights that help shape priorities, guide initiatives, and improve outcomes for Ethnic Communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.
As the Insights Analyst, you will be responsible for stewardship of SESI's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and associated data assets, ensuring data integrity, usability, and strategic value. You will analyse qualitative and quantitative information to identify patterns, emerging trends, and opportunities, translating findings into clear recommendations that support both operational and strategic decision-making.
The Insights Analyst will:
- Analyse customer and stakeholder data from our CRM system and other sources to generate actionable insights.
- Integrate qualitative community intelligence with quantitative data to provide a holistic view of engagement and outcomes.
- Produce timely and meaningful insights reporting to support planning, engagement, and operational decisions.
- Manage SESI's CRM system, data repositories, and associated tracking tools.
- Maintain data quality, standards, documentation, and reporting processes.
- Monitor trends, patterns, and performance indicators to identify opportunities and risks.
- Translate complex information into clear, accessible insights tailored to diverse audiences.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of analytical approaches, reporting practices, and SESI's overall data maturity.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Demonstrated experience in an analyst, insights, or data-focused role using structured analytical techniques to generate actionable insights.
- Experience working with CRM systems, databases, and structured datasets, including maintaining data quality and usability.
- Experience analysing customer, stakeholder, or engagement data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret, synthesise, and present complex information clearly.
- The ability to combine quantitative and qualitative information to develop practical insights and recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Sound judgement, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Experience managing data responsibly with a strong focus on confidentiality, integrity, and governance.
- A relevant tertiary qualification (for example, a STEM-related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
- At least three years' experience in the public sector or in a role requiring similar analytical and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
