“Are you looking to work as part of a collaborative and energetic Ministry, to help shape New Zealand's future?”

“Are you a talented, motivated and influential manager?”

“Are you an experienced public servant who can work with multiple agencies and stakeholders to deliver and align complex programmes of work?”

Then we want you!

As a result of our expanded commemorations programme at Manatu Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage, we are recruiting to new positions in the Delivery Group.

The Manager, Commemorations will develop and lead the Ministry's commemorations strategy, co-ordinate commemorative activity across Government as well as lead the delivery of our own commemorative work programme.  You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the 2019 commemoration of 250 years since the Endeavour's arrival in New Zealand and the early encounters that took place.  We are excited by the opportunity this commemoration will give us to celebrate our dual voyaging heritage in way that is meaningful to and inclusive of all New Zealanders – to create positive experiences as well as legacies for future generations.

This position will suit someone who is looking for a dynamic and exciting new role, who is passionate about New Zealand's diverse heritage and culture(s) and has substantial public sector experience.

You will report to the Group Manager Delivery, be part of the Delivery Group leadership team, and work across the Ministry, government and the sector, with community groups, iwi/hapu, waka hourua leaders, local government and a broad range of stakeholders.

Manatu Taonga is a small Ministry with approximately 115 staff based at the historical Public Trust building in central Wellington.  We work to promote a confident and connected culture and to support more New Zealanders to connect with the culture and heritage of Aotearoa.  The Ministry supports many of New Zealand's arts, media, heritage and sports organisations, advises government on cultural matters and provides research and resources for everyone to access.  We operate a lean and flat structure although our mandate and reach is wide.  We pride ourselves on our agility and our open, collaborative and supportive culture.
