Job Description

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has recently formed a new Commercial Division as a global centre of excellence for its procurement, grant funding, private sector investment, contract management, commercialisation and supplier management activities. We are looking for international procurement and commercial specialists at all levels to be based in Wellington. We work on projects that successfully deliver benefits for New Zealand citizens, other governments and businesses and communities in developing countries.  

 

The Senior Commercial Excellence Adviser will support the Divisional Manager, Commercial to ensure that the Ministry has appropriate policy, processes, systems and skills to optimise value for money in its use of Crown and other funds. This will include delivery of a change programme which will implement a new Ministry Commercial Framework. The changes will include the simplification, automation and continuous improvement of policies, processes, guidance, tools, analyses and reports.  It will also include the implementation of a commercial body of knowledge and community of practice.

 

In this role you will identify, develop and deliver leading edge learning and development in the areas of commercial, procurement, contract and relationship management. You will be responsible for defining and implementing systems strategies for the Division's and Ministry's commercial transactions, reporting and analysis, supported by the Ministry's Commercial Operations Team.

 

The position requires a senior commercial or procurement specialist or analyst with at least 5 years' experience in developing and implementing commercial policy, processes and reports. Experience of lean process improvement, implementing procurement and supply chain systems and delivery of procurement and commercial learning and development will be an advantage.

 

This is a Wellington based role. You must have the ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance.
