Senior Communications Adviser

0.6 FTE (negotiable) – Wellington

Would you like to work as part of a small, collaborative and energetic communications team in central Wellington? 


We have exciting fixed term opportunity for a communications all-rounder, working at the forefront of New Zealand's cultural and heritage sector.


Reporting to the Manager Communications, this position supports the Ministry for Culture and Heritage's central Communications team. The role is part time for a fixed term of six months.


We are looking for someone who has:

  • provided communications advice across a government organisation to senior level
  • experience in managing proactive and reactive media activity
  • the ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships
  • an awareness of social media
  • excellent written communication skills
  • relevant qualifications or experience in Communications
  • an appreciation of, and commitment to, tikanga Māori is also important.  


This role will be working across the Ministry to support the management of media enquiries and liaising with Ministers' offices, working with our senior leadership team to help promote the Ministry's messages, as well helping to develop communications strategies, manage external stakeholder communications.

Salary Range

The range for this position is $80,320 - $94,494 (Grade 6).
