We are looking for a diverse range of people to embark on careers as foreign policy or development officers.

A foreign policy or development career in the Ministry will offer you the opportunity to work across a broad range of areas in relation to the pursuit of New Zealand's foreign policy and development interests.   For foreign policy roles this includes: contributing to policy recommendations, analysing trends in international political, trade and economic developments, participating in inter-governmental discussions and helping to implement policy. For development officer roles this includes: managing development or humanitarian activities, contributing to the development of policy reporting and briefing stakeholders around a range of development issues. Your career will commence as a desk officer in Wellington, after which you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge, skills and expertise in a range of different roles in Wellington and offshore at one of our embassies, high commissions, missions or consulates.

Applicants must hold New Zealand citizenship and you must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance.  The ability and willingness to travel is also required for these roles, as is a desire to represent New Zealand offshore.
