Commercial Adviser (2 roles)

The Commercial Division takes an active role in ensuring the Ministry's overseas aid programme and other key initiatives are well supported with agile and flexible procurement services. We are focused on delivering great outcomes through collaborative approaches to establishing strong business relationships. We are part of an integrated system that enables MFAT to do great things in the world.

We have a vacancy for two Commercial Advisers to play a key lead role in implementing a customer focused approach to procurement. This role will:

 •      Play a key role in the delivery of excellent procurement services to the overseas aid programme and for our 63 posts overseas.

•      Procurements will have an infrastructure bias.

•      Deliver innovative and practical commercial solutions to achieve great outcomes.

•      Use your procurement skills to make a real difference in the world.


What the role does

This is a key role in a team that is focused on providing flexible procurement services. You will work with a portfolio of internal customers, directly supporting a wide range of initiatives across New Zealand's overseas aid programme and the assets overseas for the 63 posts. You will find yourself actively involved in delivering some of the most significant outcomes the Ministry is tasked to achieve.

You will be an advocate for high quality procurement practice, including the delivery of flexible and agile approaches to suppliers and market, as well as the implementation of strategic procurement and supplier relationship initiative across the Ministry.

What we need

We are looking for self-starters with strong procurement and relational management skills. The successful candidates will be customer-focused, approachable, and have great attitudes. They will be experienced in the practical application of procurement skills, and will bring with them a commitment to delivering public value through great procurement practice.
