The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is seeking a full-time permanent Principal Adviser, Employment Relations based in Wellington.

The Principal Adviser, Employment Relations is the subject matter expert responsible for providing advice and guidance on employment relations (ER) matters to the Ministry. 

This role will develop and manage the key strategies ensuring they align to the Ministry's values and culture. This is an exciting role for an ER champion to work across a range of work streams such as collective bargaining, development of ER strategy, contract management and being the in-house ER expert. 

We are looking for someone with a strong background in dealing with complex ER issues, who is a star influencer and has the ability to negotiate at a senior level. You will have extensive knowledge and experience in understanding and applying employment legislation, working with unions and have the ability to build positive working relationships.  Having a practicing certificate is a bonus.

Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders will be an important aspect of this role. You will foster a strong working relationship by building trust and credibility with the unions so that any issues are dealt with fairly.
