Job Description

  • Manage a $90 million per annum official development assistance (ODA) budget
  • Busy and rewarding role
  • 12 Month Fixed Term, Wellington based role or Secondment

What you will do

This role is responsible for managing and forecasting a large and complex ODA budget and management of programme planning and reporting processes.

You will work closely with both the Scholarships Unit and the Scholarships Improvement Unit and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Ministry quality standards and reporting deadlines are met.   You will engage across the Pacific Development Group to ensure scholarships are reflected in country plans and reporting. 

You will be managing finances during a period of change; providing financial modelling and advice for different service delivery models being considered for New Zealand Scholarships and be the Scholarship Team's champion for the new online contract management system, Enquire.   

What we need

We are primarily looking for someone who has experience in effectively and proactively managing large complex budgets, with proven financial modelling skills, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to think strategically while supporting the day to day operations. Our ideal candidate would also have experience managing programmes, planning and performance processes and experience supporting programme change in a dynamic environment.

You must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance.

 

About the team

The Global Development and Scholarships Division (GDS) delivers the New Zealand scholarships programme which aims to achieve measureable development outcomes in the 112 countries scholarships are offered for study in New Zealand or the Pacific.   We provide scholarships strategy, policy, guidelines and the programme infrastructure for five New Zealand scholarships schemes and have oversight and contract management for the administration of these schemes.   We are responsible for strategy and policy advice on New Zealand's development assistance, and activity and relationship management in ASEAN and Timor Leste, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
