Job Description

The Commercial Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade takes an active role in ensuring the Ministry's overseas aid programme and other key initiatives are well supported with agile and flexible procurement services. We are focused on delivering great outcomes through collaborative approaches to establishing strong business relationships. We are part of an integrated system that enables the Ministry to do great things in the world.

We have a vacancy for a Manager, Capability, Assurance, & Performance to lead a team in driving a customer focused approach to procurement. This role will:

  • Lead a team to develop and support excellent procurement practice.
  • Implement innovative and practical commercial practice to achieve great outcomes.
  • Use your commercial development skills to make a real difference in the world.

What the role does

This is a key leadership role responsible for the implementation of flexible and innovative procurement practice across the Ministry. Your customers will include all Ministry Divisions, and you will be supporting a wide range of Ministry initiatives, including NewZealand's overseas aid programme. You will find yourself leading the development of procurement practice that directly supports the delivery of some of the most significant outcomes the Ministry is tasked to achieve.

In doing this, you will be a leader and advocate for the implementation of high quality procurement practice, including flexible and agile market approaches, as well as implementing strategic procurement and supplier relationship management across the Ministry.

What we need

We are looking for a self-starter with strong people, thought leadership, and relational management skills. The successful candidate will be customer-focused, approachable, and have a great attitude. They will be experienced in working with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver process improvement, and will bring with them a passion for delivering public value through great procurement practice.
