Job Description

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) acts in the world to make New Zealanders safer and more prosperous. We do this by building connections with and influencing other countries to advance New Zealand's interests and project New Zealand values. We provide advice to the Government on the implications for New Zealand of what is happening in the world.

The Wellington Facilities Administrator is a hands on role and will be responsible for supporting the Ministry by providing customer-centric services and assistance in facilities management for Wellington sites.

This includes:

  • Supporting and advising on facilities, events, and logistics management
  • Overseeing maintenance activities
  • Monitor contractor management performance
  • Support management of Health, Safety and Security requirements for the site
  • Supporting MFAT to maintain operational excellence

In this hands on role you will be a part of the many facets of MFAT. You will be the key staff member in liaising for all day to day management of the MFAT sites. You will be required to have an in depth knowledge of building regulations and frameworks and provide the required advice as and when required. An in-depth understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace would also be of value.

We are looking for someone who is primarily customer focused, but also proactive and energetic. This team member would ideally be the key POC for the building maintainence and therefore required to be organised and articulate.

The following key accountabilities of this role assist in delivering the Ministry's purpose. 

  • To be successful in this role you'll need at least five years' experience in a related role and experience in facilities management.
  • Exposure to property and building regulatory framework including tenant obligations (e.g. evacuation, business continuity practices, health and safety).
  • High level of competency in the use of the Microsoft suite of applications.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very good ability at complex problem solving.
  • A high level of financial aptitude, computer literacy, analytical and problem solving skills. 

Although required to work to independently, you must be a strong team player.
