Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
We have a vacancy for a digital production and content editor.
Manatū Taonga is a significant producer of history and reference content in both English and te reo Māori, and both digital and print. Pou Whakatika ā-Matihiko Digital Production Editors are a part of a dedicated team of researchers, designers, and developers that build and maintain digital products that are customer-focussed and that offer meaningful digital experiences to users.
Current projects include Te Ara – the Encyclopedia of New Zealand, NZHistory and Te Tai Whakaea Treaty Settlement Stories. Over the coming years you can also expect to work on a new digital initiative on the Dawn Raids, and this year the development of content for a new corporate website.
Key responsibilities for this role:
- Content management role on Ministry websites, in particular Te Pae Wānanga Research and Publishing Group websites using Drupal
- Contribute to content strategy for all Te Pae Wānanga digital channels
- Contribute to content for websites using research, UX writing and editing skills
In many of our projects we seek to take a partnership approach, co-designing content with communities and partners, and supporting them to preserve and share their own stories and build their own capability in these areas.
Kōrero mōu | About you
Content is your passion. You're a skilled UX writer and editor, and you have experience leading content strategy. You're a champion for users, and inclusive design principles and diversity across all content development, including accessibility, and you'll ensure Customer Insights and web traffic metrics always inform decision making.
You will need to demonstrate:
- A strong understanding of digital publishing requirements, including a working knowledge of Government Web Accessibility Standards and Web Usability Standards and the latest WCAG
- A responsiveness to Māori and to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- A thorough understanding of Information Architecture and ability to produce wireframes and prototypes
