We have an exciting opportunity to join our Te Pae Māpuna, Taonga team as an Adviser, Te Ara Taonga to support Manatū Taonga to respond effectively to Māori cultural aspirations and, with our cultural sector agencies, to meet our undertakings to pre- and post-settlement iwi Māori for the benefit of Māori and all New Zealanders. 

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
This role is located in our Te Hua, Delivery Group, helping Manatū Taonga relationships with the Crown's iwi / Māori partners. Using your initiative, skills, and experience to contribute to Manatū Taonga's post settlement work programme with iwi Māori partners, giving operational advice and lifting the profile of this workstream across the Ministry. 

Kōrero mōu | About you
You will be responsible for:

  • contributing to our strategic priority of He Hononga Tiriri – in line with Te Tiriti, working in collaboration with our Treaty partners, sector, government, and other external agencies to support iwi and Māori priorities. 
  • co-ordination for Manatū Taonga and the Te Ara Taonga group of cultural and heritage sector agencies in settlement negotiations, post-settlement discussions, and the achievement of our commitments
  • working as part of a team with shared responsibilities to a programme of work that is in part responsive to public demand, and in part concerned with improving our systems to administer our responsibilities
