Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the Firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Advisor OD Culture to join our busy and innovative team. Reporting to the Principal Advisor Organisational Development, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing organisational culture, change readiness and related organisational development processes and activities that will facilitate our people to embrace a shared culture. The jobholder is expected to do this by first leading appreciative conversations about current cultures, what we have in common, differences we could retain to strengthen our shared identity and enable a shared destination culture; and identifying together what we ought to leave behind.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in the design, development and delivery of organisational culture and development activities
  • Experience in developing and implement diagnostic and monitoring activities and analyse relevant data to identify patterns, trends in the Organisations culture, current and past
  • Experience in developing and implementing org cultural activities in large complex organisations
  • Experience in effectively managing a wide range of relationships and deliverables
  • Experience of working at a senior level in a large complex organisation
  • Range of knowledge in organisational development and culture best practice standards and methodologies
  • High level of skill in facilitating and leading groups
  • Well-developed communication skills including the ability to persuade and influence to obtain optimal outcomes
  • Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity while being delivery focused
  • A strong, practical and humanistic approach to solving problems and delivering solutions
  • Can translate organisational culture and change readiness into practical and achievable implementation plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well and collaborate with others, building trusted relationships and influencing
  • Congruent, empathetic and warm
  • Able to build trust quickly
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient.

The remuneration for this role is $90,000 to $100,000.
