Job Description

We are a new Ministry with a commitment to putting vulnerable children and young people at the heart of everything we do and say.   Join our supportive team who are fully committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people, whanau and the community.

Te Maioha o Parekarangi is a 24/7 secure residential facility, working with young males aged 13-17 years who are either on remand, or sentenced via the Youth Court.  Our ultimate goal is to help every young person we work with to realise their potential. We help young people transition into education, training, or employment, and to a safe and stable living arrangement when they leave our care.

As one of our team of Case Leaders, you will ensure that interventions, programmes and steps are in place for each young person that effectively addresses underlying issues and needs in order to support a successful transition.  You will lead the therapeutic interventions using clinical methodologies based on evidence-based practice and provide a holistic transition plan for the young person.

You will have at least 12 months clinical and therapeutic experience in a multi-disciplinary setting with children and adolescents, an understanding of multi systemic therapy, and a sound knowledge of Child Development theories and how to apply these to intervention strategies.

  • meet the Vulnerable Children's Act safety checking and Ministry vetting requirements (police check etc)
  • have a full clean New Zealand drivers' licence
  • have an undergraduate degree in psychology, educations, social work, nursing (mental health); or related field.
