Te Papa's security team is responsible for providing the highest level of security for our people, collections, exhibitions and facilities within a dynamic and busy environment. We are looking for 2 Senior Security Officers with previous security experience to join our 24-hour, 7 day a week operational in-house Security Service. We require applicants who possess a strong work ethic, and a high level of professionalism.
Te Papa's Senior Security Officers are accountable for: supervising the day-time operation of security services; working with the Security management team to manage security systems and processes, ensuring all are carried consistent with Te Papa policies and Security Operating Procedures; and building capability of Security Officers to enable the provision of a professional and approachable security service.
Successful applicants will require:
- Demonstrated experience supervising a team
- Proven ability to motivate and build capability in a team
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and present clear incident reports, communicate well verbally and to negotiate and advise at all levels on security issues
- Experience working with and developing best practice security procedures.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute positively to a strong team environment
- Experience working with external providers of security related services.
- Proven ability to prioritise work in a complex security work environment
- Ability to be responsive and adapt to changing conditions and requirements.
- Proven ability to take control in an emergency
- A high level of fitness and good health required of the position
- Honesty, integrity and discretion in security matters requiring investigation and enquiry.
- Operational knowledge and experience with CCTV, two way radio communication systems, access control and lock & key management systems
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and technology savvy.
Applicants must also have:
- A full, clean Class 1 drivers licence,
- First Aid, Civil Defence and Emergency Management training (ideally)
- Availability to work days on a rotating roster across 7 days per week
- Availability to be on-call as rostered for nights and weekends, and able at all times to quickly get to Te Papa as required.
- The ability to get to and from work outside of public transport hours
Any offer of appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Police and/or Ministry of Justice security clearance and other pre-employment, including medical fitness, checks.
