Next step in your hospitality career…Café & Restaurant Duty Manager (Permanent/Full time position)
Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors.
We are seeking experienced hospitality professionals looking for the next step in their career to join our dynamic Café team. The role of a senior team member at Te Papa is a hands on role where you will lead the shift from the front, delivering excellence in a fast paced environment and ensuring memorable and positive experiences for our visitors.
As we cover multiple sites you will benefit from working in varied environments including cafés and restaurants meaning no two days are the same and you will continue to grow and develop new skills.
Flexibility and adaptability will be key to your success as we operate 364 days a year and will require you to be able to work across a 7-day roster, as well as evenings.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong communication & organisiational skills
- Previous work experience in a restaurant setting
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to drive a positive team culture
- Proven experience in a supervisory role
- A valid duty managers certificate or LCQ
- Alcohol knowledge & barsita skills.

The salary range for this position is $49,000 - $52,000. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees.
This is a permanent role and applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain the legal right to work in New Zealand.
Appointment to a position at Te Papa will require the production of evidence, on commencement of work, of a “MY Vaccine Pass' issued by the Ministry of Health.
Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
