Job Description

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2017. Our new, unified organisation provides services designed to deliver better outcomes for New Zealand's communities in terms of emergency prevention and response.

We now have a vacancy at our rural fire equipment depot in Clyde for someone to manage it efficiently and effectively. You will ensure that all our rural fire equipment across Otago and Southland is fit for purpose, well maintained and is in the right place at the right time. You will also be involved in assisting the PRFO with the management of fire equipment resourcing to meet readiness and positioning that meets the required national standards and the local Fire Plan requirements.

This isn't a job for a mechanic - but we do we need someone who is mechanically minded with excellent planning and relationship building skills and who is computer savvy. You must also be able to take a big picture view on how to best to manage a key resource - but if you like getting your hands dirty, you will get a bit of that as well!

We also need the following skills and attributes:

  • Understanding of volunteering and experience engaging effectively with volunteers
  • Current drivers licence (heavy traffic licence desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Adaptable, self-motivated and able to demonstrate leadership capability
  • Able to work autonomously at times but also in collaboration with colleagues

This is your chance to work for an organisation that supports each and every community across the country. In return we offer competitive remuneration and tool of trade vehicle along with positive and supportive work environment.
