New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety. We work in partnership with individuals, communities, businesses and other public sector agencies to achieve our vision of Safer Communities Together. The Business Partnering (People Services) function exists to work closely with Leaders within Police to develop and support a people centric work programme which enables the business to deliver "Our Business".  


We are looking for a Strategic Business Partner to work within the Business Partnering team within New Zealand Police to lead and manage the Advisory function within the Upper North Island region. This position will primary be located in Auckland, however there will be a requirement of travel within the role, to ensure that as a Business Partner you are connecting key stakeholders to other People group functions and consulting with senior leaders.


As a Strategic Business Partner, you need to be able to assess and anticipate People related issues and risks and provide people centric solutions on how to mitigate these risks in line with business objectives.  Within this role, you need to be able to demonstrate strong relationship management skills and be able to quickly develop an understanding of technical and business challenges in order to be a respected contributor to the business leadership team.


A key component of this role will also be leading and managing the Advisory function which will involve contributing to and implementing the direction and vision for the team and maintaining these disciplines through accountability and service delivery.


This is an extremely dynamic and challenging position, and the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:

A successful track record as a leader within a complex operational environment;

Ability to analyse metrics and data to aid strategic decision making;

Experience in developing and delivering on people centre work plans and processes to achieve business objectives and,

Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and solutions for organisation challenges.
