About the role

  • Registered Nurse - variety of part time options available both permanent and fixed-term
  • FTE 0.47, 0.7, 0.94
  • The Child and Family Unit at Princess Margaret Hospital is a 16 bed, specialist regional (South Island) in patient facility for children/adolescents under 18 years of age who require Specialist Mental Health Services care
  • Children and adolescents who have severe psychiatric, emotional behavioural or developmental disorders are able to be assessed and/or treated within our service and there is also provision for family members to live-in, to enable them to be part of their child's treatment programme
  • Adhere to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi

Skills and experience:

Experienced Registered Nurse, Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a large multidisciplinary team and autonomously

  • Previous experience working with children/adolescents is preferred
  • Genuine interest in the mental health of children/adolescents and their family/whanau
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, support and empathy for your young clients
  • Ability to build effective relationships with children and young adults
