About the role:

Ashburton Maternity Centre is a Primary Birthing Unit approximately one hour's drive south of Christchurch. It is a welcoming environment comprised of five postnatal beds, and two delivery rooms with birth pools that prides itself in offering women and their families a relaxed and homelike environment. There are approximately 140 births per year with local women also returning postnatally from Christchurch women's hospital.

As a Midwife within this service you will be responsible for planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating midwifery care in collaboration with women, their families and the MDT. As a small and cohesive Maternity Services team it is envisaged you will be working together with women of all ages and backgrounds to provide optimum evidence based advice, midwifery care during pregnancy, labour and the post-partum period.

Working:

  • Rostered shifts to suit service needs

Skills and experience:

  • Registered Midwife who holds a current NZ Practising Certificate with recent tertiary clinical experience and skills, a demonstrated high standard of clinical knowledge, to plan, implement and evaluate care of antenatal, intra partum and postnatal women and babies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well with families
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • A commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of maternity and nursing practice within our service
