Job Description

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
  • Should have the ability to work rostered shifts in a multi-disciplinary team

Our Purpose: Why we do it

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

Join us in Ward 15 and work with the team that provides care for gastroenterology patients, patients undergoing general surgical procedures within the ward environment and high dependency surgical patients in our 10 bed Surgical Progressive Care Unit (SPCU). Ward 15 is also a Dedicated Education Unit, therefore for staff wanting to be involved in the development of student nurses, this is an excellent opportunity.

The Role: Where you fit in

Working in our large multidisciplinary team you can expect to work closely with and learn from our Surgeons, our Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, who are all experts in their specialties and who are focused on advances in surgical care that improve clinical outcomes. Recent acute surgical or medical experience is essential for this position. You will have effective problem solving and decision-making skills and a commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of nursing practice within our service.

Our Culture: What matters to us

Ko ngā tāngata, te mātua mahi

Putting people at the heart of all we do

Health is ultimately all about people. What's important around here is the way we care for and respect others, the responsibility taken for delivering outcomes, and going about our work with integrity.

Belonging Here: Becoming part of our story

Being part of the Canterbury District Health Board, you will enjoy a fantastic benefits scheme, the opportunity for flexible working arrangements and ongoing focus on your career development.

The Canterbury DHB believes that diversity and inclusion is key to ensure we deliver the best care for our diverse population. The Canterbury DHB is an inclusive and equal opportunity employer that welcomes and respects everyone.
