About the role

The Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring Public Trust reports accurate and timely financial information to internal and external stakeholders to support decision making. The position interacts with all Public Trust business units and communicates directly with external parties such as the New Zealand Treasury.

The role requires a strong focus on continuous improvement, a desire to understand the workings of our diverse and growing business and an ability to adapt existing processes to achieve improved outcomes.

Other responsibilities within the role:

  • Posting revenue and cost journals, accruals and undertaking reconciliation's where required
  • Maintaining the month end timetable of tasks and monitoring the delivery of these
  • Undertake cost centre reporting and manage changes through the month
  • Leading the cost allocation process
  • Acting as the key contact for month end (and year end) results queries and ad-hoc changes as required
  • Monitor actual results against budgets and forecasts, particularly with regard to expenses. Undertake analysis to identify issues and recommend corrective action where appropriate

The successful candidate will have excellent time management skills and the ability to deliver a high standard of work within set targets and deadlines. You will enjoy working as part of a team, but also be able to work well autonomously.

What we need from you:

  • Ideally two to five years experience post CA qualification in a professional financial environment
  • Experience working in a similar role within a multi-faceted business
  • Experience or exposure to ERP software

This is a role with variety, where no two days are the same. You will work with various teams based across New Zealand to help deliver quality outcomes to our customers.
