Advisor, International Engagement

The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake(the Office) is focused on significantly enhancing its influence and impact on the public sector to deliver better results for Aotearoa New Zealand. The Office is dedicated to making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders. Over the next few years, we're expecting to deliver more outputs, and we want our work to have greater impact in the future.

The Advisor, International Engagement will support the Director, International Engagement in delivering the Office's international engagements and accountabilities. This is an opportunity to be part of the Office's wide-ranging capacity-building work in the Pacific region. This role will also include supporting the management of the Office's relationships with international stakeholders, the management of international correspondence, and the logistics of official visits. Strong financial skills are necessary to complete the work related to completing monthly financial reporting and monitoring of the Pacific Associations of Supreme Audit Institutions Secretariat and of the financial reporting requirements linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tarde's funding support for our work in the Pacific.

You'll need to have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification (accounting and auditing) or equivalent knowledge, and experience;
  • well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop and deliver material suited to a range of audiences and delivery mechanisms;
  • a personality and working style that thrives on ambiguity and the challenge of applying your skills in unfamiliar environments and to unfamiliar tasks;
  • an ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and effective networks between and within organisations, including in a cross-cultural environment; and
  • well-developed financial analysis skills and familiarity with monthly and annual reporting processes.

This is a new role in a newly created team. We are open to discussions on innovative ways to provide the resource required to support the activities of this team, particularly part-time and split role arrangements to attract strong experience to this role.
