Manager, Performance Audit

The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake(the Office) is focused on significantly enhancing its influence and impact on the public sector to deliver better results for Aotearoa New Zealand. Over the next few years, we're expecting to deliver more outputs, and we want our work to have greater impact in the future.

We're looking for a Manager, Performance Audit to lead one of the three performance audit teams in our Sector Performance Group. You'll be an experienced people manager with the ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment. You'll also have excellent analytical skills and a passion to influence improvements in the way the public sector delivers for all New Zealanders.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • a tertiary qualification or demonstrated depth of experience;
  • enthusiasm and drive to achieve results through motivating, managing, and developing people;
  • the ability to build relationships based on respect, trust, and mutual support;
  • highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, and good judgement;
  • a flexible and constructive “can do” approach;
  • experience in auditing, financial accounting, legal work, or policy analysis; and
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in translating complex matters into clear and simple reports.

You must be able to gain and maintain a Confidential national security clearance. Ordinarily, this means that you must be a New Zealand citizen, be a permanent resident, or hold a current residency class visa and intend to become a citizen when eligible. You must have a five-year checkable background in NZ, UK, USA, Canada, or Australia.
