About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Intelligence Supervisor to work within the National Drug Intelligence Bureau (NDIB). The NDIB is a multi-agency workgroup comprising of representatives from the New Zealand Customs Service, Ministry of Health and New Zealand Police. The team plays an important role in understanding New Zealand's illicit drug environment and providing both insight and foresight to support harm reduction initiatives.
In addition, the NDIB manages the New Zealand Wastewater Illicit Drug Testing Programme and hosts the Drug Information and Alerts Aotearoa New Zealand team, New Zealand's drug early warning system. These innovative functions are key initiatives in reducing drug related harm across New Zealand communities.
As the Supervisor, you will be responsible for working with the Manager in leading the team to deliver on its purpose of the NDIB being a critical partner in New Zealand's effort to prevent and reduce drug related harm in communities. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic multi-agency setting and have a passion for reducing the harm caused by illicit drugs.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide day to day leadership and direction of the team: Plan, coordinate and deploy resources to maximise effectiveness
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to affect the efficient exchange of intelligence
- Manage priorities, competing demands and implement strategies to mitigate service delivery risk.
- Strong relationship management skills including engaging stakeholders in information sharing and collaboration.
- Positive leadership and influence in delivering Our Business Leadership and influencing capabilities to support an environment of high performance (PHPF)
- Lead critical strategic thinking that champions diversity of thought and perspective and use evidence-based policing to drive prevention-based policing
- Maintain a positive team culture, which celebrates diversity and inclusiveness

This role is set at Team Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is to lead the activities for our Our Business and enable our people to deliver them.
