Job Description

Office of the Chief Operating Officer
Wellington, New Zealand

We are seeking a pragmatic and enthusiastic person to join our Legal Services team on either a full-time or part-time basis to ensure that the University's policy portfolio is fit-for-purpose, up-to-date, regularly reviewed and relevant.

Working alongside policy sponsors, you will take charge of developing new policy, reviewing existing policy and drafting new and amended policy.

In addition, you will maintain the University's delegations framework, ensuring that delegations are appropriate and operational.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play an integral part in optimising the University's organisation, processes, facilities and use of resources and helping the University achieve its vision of becoming a world-leading capital city university.

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, developing, implementing and promoting policies in a large and diverse organisation
  • Proven strong writing skills across a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitating training and information sessions for managers and staff
  • Proven ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people across all levels of an organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and managing projects
  • Proven ability to work successfully across all levels of an organisation; and
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of people
