Custody Team Officer

Permanent Full Time

Rotorua, Bay of Plenty District

Band E $56,211 - $76,051 - Authorised Officer

Bay of Plenty Police are looking for a Custody Officer to work with our existing staff in the District Custody hub based in Rotorua.

The successful applicant will ensure the secure and humane containment and transportation of detainees within a Police custody environment, in accordance with established regulations and procedures. Full time shift work is required, based on a 2/2/2 (2 earlies, 2 lates, 2 nights & 4 days off) rotating roster.

You will play a significant role in the safe and efficient care of prisoners both within the District Custody Hub facility, and during transport to and from correctional facilities and other BOP Policing areas.

Skills and Experience - We are looking for team players who can demonstrate the following:

  • Previous employment in a custodial facility is an advantage
  • Able to deal with stressful situations
  • Able to follow standard operating procedures
  • Must meet the health and fitness standards required for the role.
  • An ability to recognise risk and implement plans to minimise the potential for harm
  • A current NZ full class 1 driver's licence is essential.
  • Ability to follow processes, instructions and procedures in line with training and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must hold a current first aid certificate in accordance with the relevant NZQA standards.
